Yes, I was a Photographer for a Forager! That forager being none other than top Wild Foodie Robin Harford. We chose Dawlish Warren as great place to observe and note the different edible plants that grow on the shorline by the sea and estuary as well as on the Nature Reserve. We had great fun and chatted to the friendly Rangers. Here are a few of my favourite photographs. The plants are: 1. Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) 2. Gorse (Ulex europaeus) 3-5. Med Theatre Dartmoor | Shadow Puppets
How wonderful to be the photographer for The Med Theatre Dartmoor Shadow Puppets rehearsal. Such a lovely Theatre Company headed by Mark Beeson. I had never experienced a Shadow Puppet performance before and this dress rehearsal certainly didn’t disappoint! A JOURNEY, told through SHADOWS, inspired by DARTMOOR… The Walk shadow play has been adapted from a narrative poem by Dartmoor poet and playwright Mark Beeson. A solitary Dartmoor dweller is whisked away one night by a storm outside. In Wistman’s Woods he meets a stranger who offers to take him on a special journey; a journey that will lead him through the rivers, rocks and ruins of his memories and dreams. And one memory in particular will not leave him alone… For intergenerational audiences (aged 8+) and for lovers of poetry, puppetry and Dartmoor’s remarkable landscape. The remaining dates are:
Saturday 9th May: Belstone Village Hall
Friday 15th May: The Nicholls Hall, Lydford
Thursday 21st May: St Lawrence Chapel, Ashburton
Alfie’s 2nd birthday
What a fantastic day at Emily and James for the magnificent Alfie’s birthday. Two years old today! The amount of work that went into prepping it and the thoughtful presents were a testament to such a beautiful boy and a lovely family that came together to celebrate this little chap’s big day. He was over the moon with the Goldfish! Thank you Emily and James for all your hard work making it all happen! I’ve edited some of my favs of the day…
Badgerland | Med Theatre
How I loved going up to Dartmoor again. This time to photograph some pre publicity pics for the Med Theatre Company for their upcoming production of “Badgerland- A Dartmoor Comedy.” The Moor is such a magical place and it was really exciting to be taking photographs with such beautiful backdrops. The two actors were fab to work with! So many thanks to Grace and Mark. We started off at the Spinney at Cold East Cross (aptly named!) and then moved onto Hound Tor. These are some of my favourites from the shoot…
Recycling Awards | Devon
What an inspirational Recycling Awards afternoon at Devon County Hall. There were some lovely stories about how school children in Burnthouse lane primary school are helping elderly people to collect garden waste to compost, amongst lots of other recycling heroes! Heart Radio presenters Caroline and Matt made the day fun and Councillors Roger Croad and Ray Radford sang the praises of both the runners up and winners. Matt struck up a wonderful silhouette with the tree.
Exminster Marshes | dog walk
Decided to photograph a dog walk at Exminster Marshes early this morning with a friend Jonathon and his Labradoodle dog called Laika. What a glorious day for a walk and also to do the thing I love – photography in the landscape. It was pretty cold and absolutely beautiful with a slight mist and winter crisp colours. A photographers dream. We went past the RSPB conservation areas and as a I am a real beginner with identifying birds it is always good to meet people on the walk who know their birds. Fabulous start to the day!
Boat launch BBA | Lyme Regis
A fantastic sunny day with the Boat Building Academy where students of the class of March 2014 launch their boats for the first time in the harbour of Lyme Regis. The boats included a traditional clinker Thames Skiff, stitch and glued outboard-powered Broome runabout, glued clinker Beg Meil design gaff-rigged dinghy and a glued clinker Fleet Trow. The Mayor of Lyme Regis Sally Holman and Director of the Academy Tim Gedge both said a few words before the boats were launched. As always it was fabulous to see everyone and all the dogs that are such a great part of the day.
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in Exeter
Pleasure to photograph HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in Exeter at the revamped library. It was such a gorgeous sunny day for the official opening of Exeter Central Library. A great deal of hard work culminated in the grand opening on Tuesday. Everyone was excited and the visit went down really well. The Duchess spent time drawing with the children in the children’s library as well as visiting other areas.
Here are a few pics from the day.
BBA | Launch June 2014
Another fabulous day photographing the latest BBA launch June 2014 in Lyme Regis with the latest students completing their course. Everyone was in good cheer and a large crowd gathered in the glorious sunshine to watch as each boat was launched. There was quite a swell outside of the harbour so most of the boats didn’t venture out for too long. However, I was keen to photograph one of the boats sailing and was fortunate that a couple of the students ventured out! The safety guys took me out in the rib and we motored over the pretty big swell! I must admit I did get a little nervous as we kept heading out to sea! It was well worth it though! Here are some of my favourite photographs of the day.
Baby Deer | South West Wildlife Rescue
As a volunteer response driver for South West Wildlife Rescue Centre I was phoned with two bird rescues on Tuesday night. So, the first was 2 baby Robins from Exeter that had been ousted from their nesting box by a cat and were only 2 days old! Their 2 brothers unfortunately died and they themselves were really quite cold. But, with hot water bottles and cotton wool I managed to get them warm and they survived the night and I came in to see that they were opening their beaks to be fed when I got up in the morning! I then snuggled the 2 baby birds into a cosy basket with hot water bottle and set off to Wellington to collect a chirpy fledgling sparrow that was in a box. All 3 charges were good on arrival at Secret World. While at Secret World Wildlife Rescue the lovely volunteer Lidia took me to see some of the incredible rescued animals. I was absolutely knocked out by the wonderful work that they all do to rehabilitate and release these gorgeous creatures. The resident foxes were in playful mood and their spectacular ears reminded me of my gorgeous lurcher dog, Shady. I was allowed to take a few pictures of an orphaned tiny baby deer recently brought in. The fawn will be habituated to only 3 people and then when ready will be allowed to mix with other deer. Here are some of the pics taken in the little stable.
